Job Title : Technical Lead


Role:

The role of the Technical Lead is to oversee the day-to-day delivery and scheduling of the technical vocational training programs and be the prime Internal Verifier for the institute to ensure the international center accreditation and quality outcome are achieved and maintained. The role will also manage asset integrity and performance of the operations team to ensure business objectives & values are successfully met.


Qualifications:

· Minimum of 10 Years Industry Experience in an Operations or Engineering Discipline preferably within Oil & Gas sector.

· Minimum 5 years international experience in managing operations activities within a Technical Training business.

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in assessing and internally verifying the delivering engineering or production operations competence based vocational training and education to international vocational training standards.

Qualified Assessor and Internal Verifier. (A1 / V1)

· Information Technology - Use of PC Systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook) and appropriate keyboard skills.

Recognised Engineering Qualification HNC (equiv.) or above and/or recognised process qualification is desirable

Recognised qualification in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable.


Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

· Ensure quality of delivery to Qualification Standards as set by the international awarding bodies.

Act as the prime center Internal Verifier (IV).

Manage the implementation of the TPO Health and Safety policy across the center.

· Manage performance of the operations team to ensure business objectives & values are successfully met.

Manage implementation, use and regular audit of Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Plant Operating Procedures and other Safe Systems of Work

Lead the safe and effective implementation of adequate Plant Asset Maintenance, both routine and correctional.

· Identify and utilise operational ‘best practices’ across TPO as appropriate.

· Implement TPO’s business objectives, goals and values within the operational teams as set by the General Manager.

· Set annual targets for staff and regularly review staff performance in line with targets.

· Encourage staff to meet business objectives and fulfil their potential.

· Control effective and efficient technical staff recruitment to meet the needs of the project.

· Ensure staff inductions are conducted.

· Monitor and control key staff holidays in line with operational activities.

· Monitor & evaluate team monthly performance.

· Manage delivery of each client’s scope of work to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.

· Ensure course material is utilized effectively in line with our commitment to continuous development.

· Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality systems / procedures are adhered to and internal audits are conducted effectively.

Manage the schedule for the weekly and monthly safety inspection tours.

Co-ordinate the emergency drills and act as the incident controller.

· Develop effective internal relationships with TPO various stakeholders.

· Develop relevant succession plans for technical staff and ensure a culture of internal promotion adds value to the business goals.

· Undertake other duties and responsibilities as determined by the General Manager.



Key Skills:



Senior project management experience in managing and delivering Operations and Engineering Technical Training projects for major IOC or NOC clients.

Highly experienced in implementing and maintaining qualification standards for UK Awarding Bodies e.g. City & Guilds, BTec, SQA etc.

Qualified and experienced Assessor and Internal Verifier. (A1 / V1 award)

Successful track record of managing Human Resources effectively and efficiently, including selection/recruitment, development/training, appraisals/personal reviews, coaching/mentoring; inter-department working, liaising with customer/supplier at all levels.

Strategic change management theory and practice.

High level of communication and interpersonal skills, including persuading, influencing, counselling, management of meetings and presentation skills.

Operations management theory & practice.

Collecting and assembling information through questioning, listening, debating and researching.

· Effective decision making via consensus, information evaluation or through initiative.


Other Comments (eg. Offshore / Rotator / Frequent Business Traveller )



Residential contract.

Physically fit to operate on a training plant, occasional shift schedules may be necessary.
Infrequent business travel may be required
